The main street approach
The Main Street Approach™ helps communities with revitalization and growth over time through a practical, adaptable framework.
Washington, D.C. is comprised of 29 Main Streets. Upper Georgia Avenue Main Street is an officially recognized DC Main Streets program and a member of the National Main Street Center. Upper Georgia Avenue Main Street follows the 4-point approach and tailors these transformation strategies to support the revitalization of our corridor.
Economic vitality
We help small businesses start, stabilize, and scale—through one-on-one advising, access to capital, and data-driven strategies that build resilient, inclusive local economies.
Design
We invest in a welcoming public realm—storefront improvements, placemaking, public art, pedestrian safety, lighting, and streetscape projects that reflect our neighborhood’s identity.
Promotion
We tell the story of Upper Georgia Avenue through campaigns, markets, events, and partnerships that bring people to the corridor and keep them coming back.
Organization
